FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you have questions not addressed below.

Do You Carry Insurance?

Yes. Insurance is critical to protect the contractor and the client. MONK Renovations carries $2 Million in Commercial Liability Insurance, $2 Million in Commercial Auto Insurance and we carry Workers’ Compensation Insurance to cover our employees and subcontractors in the event of injury.

Do You Have References?

Yes. References are important to allow prospective clients to evaluate contractors. MONK Renovations provides references specific to the type of renovation being requested and more. We want our clients to call our references and they can always check our website for client testimonials.

Do You Have a Contract For Work to be Completed?

Yes. MONK Renovations provides detailed quotes/estimates for all our renovation projects. These quotes include all the specifics of the project, plus terms and conditions. Our quotes are signed by both MONK Renovations and our clients and form a contract. Detailed contracts, such as these, provide a record of what was agreed upon and help ensure the renovation is completed as requested by the client and as agreed by the contractor. Good paperwork creates and maintains good relationship.

Do I Need a Permit?

Renovation permits are often a requirement of the municipality in which you live and can vary. Two specific renovations which require a permit are additions and decks. These are structural renovations and always require a permit.

What Do We Do To Get Started On a Renovation Idea?
    • Step #1: Contact a professional renovation contractor to discuss your idea. At this point a designer or planner may be required to put your ideas on paper and expand on the details.

    • Step #2: Complete a detailed quote/estimate based on details collected from the client

    • Step #3: Review and modify as required to ensure the details of the renovation and the products selected will work and provide the desired result.

    • Step #4: Sign a renovation contract, at which time a deposit is typically required.

    • Step #5: Permit application, order specialty products as required, schedule subcontractors and the project start date.

    • Step #6: Commence renovation as scheduled.
